As part owner of the Nets, Jay-Z gets to use his creative side to help handle a pretty important part of the team’s relocation from New Jersey to Brooklyn.
Jay-Z has taken it upon himself to help with the design of the Nets new logo! The new logo was unveiled on Monday (April 30). The team’s CEO, Brett Yormark, described the logo as “the new badge for Brooklyn.” The black-and-white logo keeps the team’s shield design the same, but adds a “B” inside a tiny basketball.
Shirts and other Brooklyn Nets apparel also went on sale today, while official jerseys will be available in September.
This wasn’t Jay-Z’s only contribution to the team’s new home. He previously announced he would be playing a string of concerts in September to open the Barclays Arena in Brooklyn, before the Nets start their first season there in October. One concert has been planned so far for September 28.
