Jurors in the case of the man accused of killing three of Jennifer Hudson’s family members have begun deliberations late Wednesday afternoon.
The defense told jurors during their closing arguments that prosecutors have failed to prove that Hudson’s former brother-in-law, William Balfour, was the killer. Hudson was in attendance for every day of the trial and was there for the closing arguments as well. Hudson was extremely emotional, bent forward on her head and knee, sobbing as prosecutor Jennifer Bagby described what she called “the execution” of her mother, brother, and nephew.
Billboard.com, reported that closing arguments lasted for about four hours and the jury didn’t begin deliberations until shortly before 5pm.
Prosecutors say that Balfour killed Hudson’s family members in an act of vengeance against Hudson’s sister and Balfour’s ex-wife Julia Hudson. Balfour pleaded not guilty to three counts of first degree murder. If convicted on all counts he faces mandatory life in prison.
