Tuesday night’s elimination episode of The Voice also was “the homecoming” episode, as former Voice contestants returned to the place it all began for them to perform. Not one, not two, not three, but four former contestants returned to The Voice stage.
Starting off the performances was last season’s finalists from Blake Shelton’s team, The Swon Brothers. The brothers performed their new single, “Later On.” The song definitely represents who they are — true country. It even reminds us of the “most country” song they sang on the show — “Okie From Muskogee.” The boys look as comfortable as ever performing on stage, just as they always have, and Colton Swon even gave his guitar to the audience mid-song.
Next came another Season 4 finalist, Michelle Chamuel. Michelle sang her new single, “Go Down Singing.” Michelle was accompanied by musicians backing her up. Chamuel was on Usher’s team last season.
Cassadee Pope was up next, performing her second single “I Wish I Could Break Your Heart.” Pope has been one of the most successful Voice contestants post-show. Her first single “Wasting All These Tears” has reached gold status with over 500,000 downloads. Blake sure looked like a proud coach watching Cassadee perform!
Last to perform was another Voice success story coming off of team Blake from season four — winner Danielle Bradbery. Danielle sang “Never Like This” and definitely pulled off the best vocals of the night. Danielle’s debut album is currently No. 3 on the Billboard Country Chart and she is also touring with Brad Paisley. Not too shabby!
As far as the eliminations went, James Wolpert from Team Adam and Cole Vosbury from Team Blake went home. That means that Jacquie Lee from Team Christina and Tessanne Chin and Will Champlin from Team Adam are in the finals! The Voice wraps up next week!
