Coldplay Reveals Intimate Shows for ‘Ghost Stories’ Launch

Coldplay Ghost Stories Intimate Tour

Coldplay announced a small number of live shows in support of their new album, Ghost Stories.

The rock group will play six “intimate” shows which will take them from Germany, to the United States, France, Japan and the UK. The first show will be played on April 25 in Cologne, Germany and then will head to New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Tokyo and finish in London on July 1.

Tickets for the Cologne show will go on sale April 19, while ticket information for the remaining five shows will be emailed exclusively to subscribers to the band’s mailing list at Coldplay.com.

After their Mylo Xyloto tour in 2012, Chris Martin said that they wouldn’t play big shows for a while. That seems to remain true as these six shows are being played in smaller-capacity venues.

Ghost Stories, which is the band’s sixth album, will be released on May 19.

Jay-Z Rihanna and Coldplay Team up for Closing of Paralympics

At the closing of the Paralympics Sunday night Jay-Z, Rihanna, and Coldplay’s Chris Martin teamed up for one hell of a performance.

The performance started off with the hit Jay-Z/Rihanna collaboration “Run This Town,” while Martin backed them up on piano and guitar. Following this performance, Rihanna left the stage and let the boys get to work performing a rendition of Coldplay’s ”Paradise.” Jay-Z rapped some verses to the song, while Martin was on the piano and came in with the popular chorus.

At the event Coldplay also performed their hit songs “Yellow” and “Us Against the World.” Rihanna also sang “We Found Love” from a chair that swung across the stage.

Rihanna told the press:

“Being at the Paralympics is the biggest honor. These athletes are gladiators and a true inspiration to me.”

Check out the star-studded performance after the jump!

Coldplay’s Chris Martin Gets Distracted by Olympics and Forgets Lyrics

Sure, every singer forgets the lyrics to a song at one time or another, but Coldplay’s Chris Martin has his reasons for forgetting his lyrics — the Olympics!

As reported by Ace Showbiz, at Coldplay’s show in Boston on Sunday, Martin was singing “Warning Sign” when all of a sudden he stopped and started laughing. He then said to his audience:

“Oh shit… I was thinking about the Olympics. I was distracted. I was not in the breakup frame of mind I needed to be in. I’m gonna get back into it. I’m gonna stop thinking about pole vaulting and things like that… The best concert in the world is happening right here, right now. Fuck the Olympics. Lets have a fucking great time in Boston!”

As he started the song again, he stopped and said:

“Please don’t tweet that I said ‘Fuck the Olympics.’ I didn’t mean it. I’ll never hear the end of it.”

Coldplay is currently wrapping up their American tour.

Coldplay’s Chris Martin Talks About His Battle with Tinnitus

Coldplay’s Chris Martin has come out to tell the world that he is a long-time sufferer of the ailment tinnitus.

Tinnitus is a condition that causes ringing in the ears and painful earache and headaches. This condition often afflicts those who reportedly listen to loud music — something that is basically unavoidable in Martin’s line of work!

Marin told The Daily Mirror:

“I’ve had tinnitus for about ten years, but since I started protecting my ears it hasn’t gotten any worse… Looking after your ears is unfortunately something you don’t think about until there’s a problem. I wish I’d thought about it earlier.”

Martin believes he has had this condition long before he started playing with Coldplay and he now takes precautions while performing. Martin does not expose his children to loud music. A source close to Martin told the Mirror:

“Chris suffered with terrible ringing in his ears and excruciating headaches. If he hadn’t sought treatment, he might not be performing today.”

Tinnitus can cause severe hearing damage and even deafness if left untreated. Martin is speaking out as he gets involved with Action on Hearing Loss, a U.K. organization that aims to prevent and treat hearing loss.

Coldplay’s Chris Martin Regrets the ‘Mylo Xyloto’ Album Title

Chris Martin of Coldplay finally woke up and realized what a terrible idea it was to name his latest album Mylo Xyloto.

Martin told Good Morning America the title was once:

“something that we thought looked really good but everywhere we go around the world people pronounce it in the most crazy ways and we’re beginning to regret it now.”

He also confessed that the title is just impractical and it is “two words that you couldn’t even Google.”

At the time of the album release Martin had a pretty out-of-the-box explanation of the title, telling the New York Times:
