On Friday night many of the entertainment and music industry’s biggest East Coast stars came together for the Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together benefit broadcast.
The broadcast was put together to benefit the Red Cross efforts in the aftermath of Sandy, the storm which devastated New York, New Jersey, and much more of the East Coast. Stars from Christina Aguilera to Tina Fey came together for this broadcast.
Aguilera, born in Staten Island, opened the hour-long event performing her song “Beautiful,” after these words:
“I was born in Staten Island. We will not leave anyone behind. Every single one of you matters.”
Jon Bon Jovi, a Jersey native, was shown visiting the aftermath of his band’s hometown. He performed a toned down, acoustic version of “Livin’ on a Prayer.”
Other performances included Aerosmith’s “Dream On,” Billy Joel’s “Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway),” Sting’s “Message in a Bottle,” Mary J. Blige’s “The Living Proof,” and ending with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s “Land of Hope and Dreams.” Jimmy Fallon also joined Springsteen, Joel, and Steven Tyler for a rendition of “Under the Boardwalk.”
